Video proof that many hands make light work at Hidden Valley volunteer days.
More than 60 volunteers turned up on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Hidden Valley Camp to make our Sept. 14 Volunteer Day a huge success! They worked together to clean the cabin and surroundings, the UACT and latrines, Southern Shade and other unit sites, gardens and streams. They also sanded and refinished the stair railing leading to the Gathering Place, collected native seeds and more.
Two months later, dozens of generous volunteers "weathered" the rain during the November Volunteer Day. Despite the slightly soggy conditions, everyone came ready to work and had a smile on their face. With nearly 60 volunteers — less than a fourth of our normal turnout for a November Volunteer Day — we accomplished well over three-fourths of our planned jobs in and around Mary’s Meadow and ended the day with s’mores at the Gathering Place.
Thank you to all the Girl Scouts, troop leaders, parents, Friends of Hidden Valley Board members and friends, Lawrence Hidden Valley Camp Board members, and KU and community volunteers who shared their time and energy. We hope to see you at the April Volunteer Day!
